Visual studies

Seminar Project
Team: Angelica Lorenzi, Dennis Schiaroli
SCI-arc, Los Angeles
Instructors: Casey Rehm - Kristy Balliet

The course covered issues of contemporary representation and the development of splines in relation to complex digital form and physical and virtual space. Visualisation today encompasses the development, exploration and communication of information and ideas in multiple mediums. The course developed critical visual literacy and reviewed methods for generating and evaluating lines, surfaces and volume. The course was divided into three main projects. The first dealt with drawing in space, spline based modeling/animating, and fabrication with Maya and interactive apps. The second dealt with pattern, texture and surface articulation using Processing. The final project explored VR environments as modeling and design platforms.
